The Cruise Ship (part 1)

It has been a while since I've last posted anything. This post is about a big project I am working on: The Allure of the Seas. I went on a vacation this summer on the Allure of the Seas. I was inspired by the outstanding architecture that went into the massive ship. I decided I would attempt to recreate it in minecraft. So far, I've run into a few problems because of the transition from real life to blocks, so some things had to be left out.

So as I'm showing what all I have, I will have real life comparison photos to show the level of accuracy I am putting into this.

The Fantasy Castle

I created this castle about a year ago today.  It was started about last October or November and wasn't finished until February or March.  If you're wondering what the texture pack is, it is called the Fantasy Texture Pack.

West Side Castle (Front)

The main entrance into the castle is through the gates seen in the first photo on the far left (between the two towers).  It has a fully operational gate that can be opened and shut by pulling a switch.  The gate measures 12 blocks high by 9 blocks wide.  The gate is able to work using a complex system of pistons that push the iron bars up from the ground to open it and then uses more pistons to push the gate down from the top to shut.

Special thanks to Duckfan87, who created the iron gate entrance and made it fully operational.  A link to his YouTube channel will be at the bottom of the page.

East Side Castle (Back)

The back side of the castle overlooks a natural bay. Much of the structure is built into the seafloor.  The East Side includes a ship docked in the port of the castle.  The ship's sails show the red shield, representing the force of good.  The red shield is from the texture pack, so I did not come up with the red shield idea.

Castle Courtyard

The courtyard is where you can enter any section of the castle.  The greenery and decorations took some time to design.  All of the trees in the courtyard are artificially made, meaning that they were all made by hand and not grown from saplings.

The Castle Ballroom

The ballroom is the biggest room in the castle, standing 4 stories tall (32 blocks tall).  It includes an orchestra pit where a symphony can play waltzes.  The ceiling has a giant dome with glowstone placed behind glass to give it the extra golden color.  The floor has plenty of dance space and even has concessions on the side.

The Castle Foyer

The foyer is the first thing people would see of castle as they walked in.  The curved platform standing in from of the columns is where the king would give his speeches as the people would stand below.

The Castle Throne Hall

Most people would refer to this as the "Throne Room" but a hall describes it a little better because of its size.  The whole hall is shaped like a giant plus.  The big circular windows are on all four ends of the intersection and are the same circular windows you can see from the outside.

The Castle Library

The library is found at the very top of the castle and has a passage to get onto the roof.  Here people have access to good enchantment areas and even some relaxing spots for reading a book or two.

Castle Interior

The castle includes many other rooms other than the ones that are posted on this blog, but here are just some of the areas inside the castle.  The first picture is of an outdoor hallway on the South side of the castle. The second picture is of a living area and the third picture is of the entrance to a hallway.

Underground Secret Passageways

What's a castle that doesn't have secret passages in it?  This castle has a total of 4 secret passageways in it, all for different purposes.  The first picture below is of a bridge leading to a nether portal and a seemingly bottomless pit below.  The second picture is the jail cells are kept and where the entrance to the sewers is.

If you like this castle, please comment about it.  I will have more posts of builds like this in the near future so come check them out. If you want to see the video to this castle on YouTube, click on the link below.
